Goals

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to Web services concepts. Students will learn practical Information and gain hands-on experience using many relevant technologies such as SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, SAAJ and Axis.

Understand core Web services concepts and how they relate to the Service Oriented Architecture model
Understand the SOAP message format
Understand how Web services are described using WSDL
Understand how information can be published and searched in a registry
Know how to create, deploy and invoke services using Axis
Learn about important security and interoperability considerations for Web services
